Present

The right present for you should be no less,
Than all the things you did for our success.
Those nights in the cold,
All those miles patrolled,
Bringing all my gear to the hoops,
Then monotonous study groups.
Extra gear just to train.
The denial of pain.
Never fifty percent to much.
And we know that sleep is a crutch.
Making me miserable to show that you’re tough,
Had it ever been thought that we’ve just had enough?
Now you’ll never forget how I felt underneath,
For my present for you is a kick in the teeth.
